What is Craniosacral Therapy?
Craniosacral therapy (CST) is a gentle manual therapy used to release restrictions to relieve pain and dysfunction while improving overall health.
Developed by Dr. John Upledger, D.O., this light touch therapy addresses issues within the craniosacral system. Where there are restrictions, there can be dysfunction. Releasing restrictions allows space for health to flow.
Clients usually see direct improvements in the functions of the central nervous system and other systems including digestive, musculoskeletal, respiratory, and circulatory.
CST has also been shown to help with physical issues related to somatic conditions such as post-traumatic stress disorder, depression, and anxiety.
By facilitating the body's natural and innate healing processes, CST is increasingly used as a preventive health measure for its ability to bolster disease resistance and is beneficial for people seeking help for a wide range of challenges and symptoms including:
Migraines/Headaches
Chronic Pain
Motor-Coordination Impairments
Central Nervous System Disorders
Orthopedic Problems
Learning Differences
Chronic Fatigue
Emotional Difficulties
Depression
Stress
Anxiety
Fibromyalgia
Immune Disorders
PTSD
Post-Surgical Dysfunction
Sleep Challenges
During a session, you will lie fully clothed as the therapist assesses your craniosacral system, identifying areas of blockage or tension. The therapist will then use gentle, sustained holds to bring these areas of dysfunction back into balance.
Most people find the sessions to be extremely relaxing.
